Today is the first day of a 2-day special convention titled Special Edition : New York City, which will bring together fans of comics, arts, and culture.
Among those in attendance will be creators of "Jewish comic stories" (ones in which at least one of the characters is identified as Jewish).
* Howard Chaykin is the author-illustrator of American Flagg, as well as Batman / Houdini : The Devil's Workshop.
* Chris Claremont is the writer who introduced the Jewish character Kitty Pryde (aka Shadowcat) and who wrote stories which implied that Magneto was Jewish (both in the pages of The Uncanny X-Men).
* Peter David infamously used the names of seder plate items for aliens in a Star Trek novel and wrote the stories for The Incredible Hulk #386-387 ; see http://www.leaderslair.com/noexcuses/hulk2-386.html and http://www.leaderslair.com/noexcuses/hulk2-387.html)
* Danny Fingeroth is the author of Disguised as Clark Kent: Jews, Comics, and the Creation of the Superhero.
* Jerry Ordway is the illustrator of an issue of Superman in which he went to the Warsaw Ghetto, as well as an All-Star Squadron story in which Steel ended up in a Nazi death camp.
* Greg Pak is the illustrator of the X-Men : Magneto : Testament miniseries.
* Arlen Schumer is the author-illustrator of Captain Israel.
